Get The Look: Fashion Capitals

The time of the year known as Fashion Month is fast approaching.

Aptly dubbed as such, the four weeks in which the ready-to-wear collections are shown during their respective Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weeks, is a whirlwind of creativity, passion and inspiration - seen both on and off the runways. Beginning in New York, and then traveling to the European fashion capitals of London, Milan and Paris, the hosting cities are flooded with a myriad of fashion-types from editors to photographers, and bloggers to buyers, each possessing a certain and definitive flair and je ne sais quois in their style. This September will once again mark the commencement of Fashion Month in which the ready-to-wear Spring/Summer 2014 collections will be shown. To honor this upcoming occasion of international character and sartorial finesse, I present you with a rundown - by city - of the various faces and  looks sure to make an appearance.

Combining vintage elements with menswear-inspired pieces, woman-about-town Shala Monroque demonstrates the knack New Yorkers possess for mixing unexpected colors, fabrics, cuts and other components for an enticingly cohesive and timeless outcome. Get the look with a vintage-inspired coat, a bright blouse, slim-cut white high-waist trousers, quirky statement necklace, and menswear-inspired heels and briefcase.

Updated tailored classics nod to the storied history of the city's iconic Savile Row, while animal print and on-trend accessories add just the right amount of cheekiness. Designer and style icon Victoria Beckham knows the exact equation for a look that's in true Brit fashion - sensible, refined, and just a bit wild when you least expect it. Get the look with oversized round sunglasses, a classic-shaped coat with fur embellishment, a crewneck sweater, ankle-grazing trousers, animal-print single-sole pumps, and boxy leather satchel.

Sweet yet sultry, and classic yet cutting-edge are certainly ways in which one could define Italian style. Heiress and Dolce & Gabbana muse Bianca Brandolini d'Adda, captures this quintessential and carefree quality in a dress from the Spring 2013 Dolce & Gabbana collection. Get the look with a white lace crop top, a sheer white lace skirt, a matching pair of briefs, a patent leather clutch and matching single-sole pumps, and a bit of simple gold jewelry.

Though not part of the fashion week fare, the menswear tradeshow Pitti Uomo - held in Florence - is a street-style photographer's dream, and such a spectacle of personal style that the men of Pitti Uomo simply could  not be left out of the roundup. Hordes of  sleek and stylish ensembles hit the streets, from dashing and debonair to contemporary and trend-forward. Here, two show-goers demonstrate one clean, classic look in two ways. Get their look with a tailored two or three button jacket, a dark-hued tie,  slim sage trousers, a pocket square, and a finishing touch of classic, retro-inspired sunglasses.

White Shoes To Wear Now

Top 10 White Shoes To Wear Now

collage created by me via polyore

One trend that is all but inescapable for the season is a bright, white shoe.

Crisp and clean when against black and other neutrals, and fresh and seasonal when set with brights and prints, the shade du jour is not only versatile but also a modern classic. Espadrille and flat varieties look casual chic when paired with classic denim and tees - be it skinny jeans or cutoffs - while heeled options are a perfect accent to short suits, sleek asymmetric skirts and breezy maxi dresses. Bonus points if said maxi dress comes equipped with high slits for added drama...these shoes draw attention to the legs, so be sure to show them off! If the recent Resort shows were any indication, my guess is that this look will surely stick around for awhile.

Here are 10 pairs to buy now, wear now, and keep around for next season.

1. Pointed leather flats, NastyGal
2. Ankle-strap sandals, Zara
3. White and silver wedge pump, Kate Spade
4. Flat sandals, Zara
5. Buckle sandal, Philosopy di Alberta Ferretti
6.  Ankle-strap wedge, KORS Michael Kors
7. Ankle-strap pump, Gianvito Rossi
8. Pointed Toe Slingback, Tibi
9. Lace espadrille, Soludos
10. Strapped cage stiletto, KG Kurt Geiger

One Bag, Three Ways : The DVF Mini 440

One Bag, Three Ways : DVF Mini 440

collage created/edited by me via Polyvore

There's nothing I love more than a functional piece that can transition seamlessly from day to night...especially one that can instantly up the chic factor of any outfit in a flash. I recently came across the DVF Mini 440 bag and was immediately inundated with 1,001 different ways in which I could style the bag - from the careerist on the daily grind from cubicle to cocktails, to the weekend warrior traipsing from farmer's market to fancy dinner without even a blink of the eye. Having just come off a gloriously long, somewhat lazy and oh-so-needed holiday weekend, it's no wonder I have all things Saturday on the brain. Here's how I'd dress for my ideal Saturday, consisting of three very different and very me activities, featuring the adorable Mini 440.

Morning: Leather Baseball Cap (available here), RayBan Clubmaster sunglasses, Zara tank, TEXTILE Elizabeth and James cutoffs, Ancient Greek Sandals

Afternoon: Summer-weight fedora (available here), VPL Exertion dress, Michael Kors  quartz bracelet, caged gladiator sandals (available here)

Evening: AllSaints Riviera dress, bib necklace (available here), Zara ankle-strap sandals

Ready for the Resort

I have to say,  I absolutely love the fact that there are so many seasons out there in the fashion stratosphere - resort...cruise...pre-fall...definitely cause for a bit of fashion ADD, in the best possible way!

With that being said, it's still unbelievable that the New Year is right around corner but with the holiday season comes... the resort collections!
Having been lucky enough to have already gone on not one, but two warm-weather getaways, I'm definitely experiencing a weakness at the moment for anything light, airy and ready for the sun.

I recently ran across the Resort collections for two labels that you wouldn't necessarily equate with the like and needless to say, between the elegantly relaxed silhouettes, sophisticated prints and vibrant pops of color, I was instantly smitten...

Here are my favorite looks from my new-found label loves!

Piamita
This label which debuted in May, fuses fashion with functionality with loungewear-inspired pieces that look just as right for a night out, as they do for a night in...
